What's Your Eating Philosophy?

When we go out to have our brunch, lunch, or even dinner with our friends or loved ones, some of us might realize that many people (including ourselves perhaps) are used to put aside part of their dishes which they consider as the tastiest one. For some other people, this particular 'eating philosophy' might not be taken into consideration and often being disregarded. Thereby, when these two types of people are having meal together, a funny scene might happen. Namely when A, as one friend with his eating philosophy of 'saving the best for last' is having dinner with B, his friend who ignore such philosophy. Innocently, with B's logical sense that the leftover food is one which A dislikes, he grabs and eats it instead. Then, we all know the further scenes of how B feel sorry for taking the best part of A's meal, while A feel even more sorry that his patience for saving the best for the last is worthless.

NEW menu of Coffee Beverages at Spinelli Coffee: HOT & ICED TEA LATTE

Believe it or not, there are more people with A's eating philosophy of saving the best (part of meal) for last. MLU the blog. has done a small research in regard to this simple yet interesting thing about this eating philosophy, just before releasing this article. Only four out of 15 people claimed to eat the best part of their meal first-things-first, as the other 11 people instantly admit that they usually separate some part of their meal, which they considered as the tastiest, and eats them at the end of their meal.

Well, there is no particular significance to this so called eating philosophy. But, it will be better if we take accounts of our friend's eating habit, just to avoid such sequence of A and B' eating-misunderstanding, and as to be a good friend. :)

Nevertheless, there are arguments between the two sided 'philosophy'. Again, it's not particularly important, yet it's really interesting to know. You know, a 'food for thought'.

Philosophy 1: the famous 'save the best for the last'
To its 'believers', saving the best part of the food for last to eat is simply a learning of patience. According to them, it's an exercise of patience through simple things that they usually and frequently do, so that in other bigger things in life this habit of having patience will be very much useful. Besides that, they found it more satisfying to eat the best part of meal at the last, as a ‘sweet reward’ to their patience. Well, it’s very much true and agreeable because psychologically there is a bigger pleasure and satisfaction if we finally get something that we’ve been waiting for. Time, patience, and then comes the reward. Those are the valuable formula that we get from simple eating habit, which also can develop us in life.

Philosphy 2: the less favorite of ‘go-getter’
Compared to the first type of eating philosophy the second type ‘believers’ might seem to have impatience as one of their habit. But to them, it’s not about patience in eating, let alone in life that we’re learning from this eating habit. According to them, people should see and value any big or even small things that happen to appear on their life. No matter how small or how big, chances are for people to immediately take action. Simply because human are incapable of knowing what’s about to happen in the future, these believers are choosing to immediately enjoy their ‘given treat’ if they get to choose between to eat the best meal first or to save it. They see the best part of the meal as a ‘treat’ and as a ‘chance’, of which they should not delay to be taken action to (or in this case to enjoy). This is also true and agreeable, because this will create a habit to grab and enjoy every God’s given treats and chances that appear right before us.

I didn't think I saved the best part for last until I saw that last picture and remembered that I save whipped cream for last. But I generally try to enjoy food together.

oh, this conversation is so cool! Until I met my husband, I never realized that there was a B type who ate the best first. It's quite funny how we worked it out!!
